Empowering through knowledge, creating opportunities for all

EDUCATION

Our Goal

Lack of access to education and poor quality of available schools can undermine children’s potential to have successful futures. SCII provides children, and youth with safe, quality educational opportunities that help them learn the skills they need to survive and thrive.

Together lets build a Nigeria where every child is protected, educated and empowered.

EDUCATION

We are committed to fostering a secure and enriching educational environment for every child in nigeria through the efforts of the safeguarding children initiative. Our focus is particularly directed towards ensuring access to quality education for orphans, vulnerable children, and those affected by conflict.

Our educational programs span from community-level initiatives to national advocacy, aiming to champion children’s right to education and create protective frameworks. Core areas of concentration involve preventing barriers to education, fostering safe learning environments, and addressing the educational needs of orphans and vulnerable children.

During periods of educational disruption, our interventions include providing targeted support to ensure continuity in learning for children, especially those facing challenges due to conflict or vulnerability. Through our initiatives, we strive to empower every child with the tools and opportunities needed to build a brighter future.

Amidst conflict and crisis, education acts as a safeguard for children, positioning them for a more promising future. It fosters hope, allowing them to recover, learn, and thrive. Regrettably, over 127 million children in areas affected by war and displacement find themselves without access to education, and many others receive an inadequate quality of learning. Despite this pressing need, education has received less than three percent of total humanitarian aid in recent years.

OUR GOALS

Ensure that children aged 0 to 5 develop cognitive and social-emotional skills

  • Supporting parents in providing consistent, nurturing and supportive behaviours towards young children, including engaging in supportive play and learning activities;
  • Providing young children with access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education.

Ensure that school-aged children develop literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills

  • Creating quality learning spaces in formal schools and informal education settings, such as community-based education and accelerated learning programs for children who have missed years of schooling;
  • Providing teaching and learning materials so teachers and facilitators are equipped to teach meaningful lessons.
