We are thrilled to share the success of our recent project, “Pages of Change,” supported by the incredible Impact Hub Foundation. Over the past few weeks, Safeguarding Children Initiative (SCII) has distributed 4,800 exercise books to 400 students—each receiving 12 books—across Galtimari Junior Secondary School and Gomari Junior Secondary School in Jere LGA of Borno State. This drive aims to bridge the gap in learning materials and improve educational outcomes for our students.

A Commitment to Inclusivity

What makes this project particularly special is our commitment to inclusivity. Among the 400 students, 21 are children with disabilities. Ensuring that these children have equal opportunities and access to quality education is a cornerstone of our mission. By providing these essential learning materials, we are taking significant steps toward creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment.

Addressing Key Challenges

Our comprehensive baseline assessment revealed that a lack of basic learning materials was a major issue, leading to absenteeism and hindering educational progress. Many families in the region face significant financial challenges, making it difficult to provide their children with the necessary school supplies. This shortage has a direct impact on students’ ability to attend school regularly and engage fully in their studies.

Making a Difference

With the distribution of these exercise books, we aim to alleviate some of the financial burdens on families, encourage regular school attendance, and enhance classroom engagement. Access to the right educational tools is essential for students to thrive academically and personally. By providing these resources, we are not just supporting their current educational needs but also investing in their future potential.

A Right to Quality Education

Every child has the right to quality education, and projects like “Pages of Change” are vital in ensuring this right is upheld. We believe that by empowering students with the necessary resources, we can help them overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. This initiative is more than just a distribution drive; it’s a step toward a brighter future for the children of Borno State.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to monitor and evaluate the impact of this project, we are hopeful that the positive changes we envision will come to fruition. We remain dedicated to our mission of safeguarding children’s rights and improving educational outcomes across the region. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Impact Hub Foundation for their invaluable support and to everyone who has contributed to making this project a success.

Together, we can turn the pages of change and write a new chapter in the lives of these children.
